A fun ride along this route, which follows an old railway line. Forest tracks, stony sections, fast stretches: expect plenty of changes of pace!

All the gravel cycling potential of the Larzac region is encapsulated in this route, which winds its way between country roads and wooded tracks, with the old railway line from Tournemire to Le Vigan forming its backbone. Take care on a few stony sections (and it’s not the ballast!). Along the way, a stop at Les Canalettes is a must – a unique network of underground faults.

Description

  1. Starting from Place des Cygnes, head east to reach the old railway line that linked Tournemire and Le Vigan (Gard)
  2. Leave the railway line on the right and rejoin the D7 on the right, heading towards La Blaquèrerie
  3. Then follow the signs for La Portalerie (14.5 km); the route climbs before descending (watch out for stony sections on the bends) towards Les Canalettes.
  4. Towards the end of the route, you’ll enjoy some lovely, straight stretches of gravel road.
