Self-Guided Visit

On the first floor, take a seat and enjoy a 20-minute introductory film telling the story of the village through the memories and testimonies of its inhabitants.

Before accessing the ramparts, informative display panels beneath the exhibition hall's vaulted ceiling explain the history of the Knights Templar and Knights Hospitaller, as well as the architecture of La Couvertoirade.

As you walk along the ramparts, enjoy breathtaking views over the medieval village and its landmarks: the church, the Templar castle, the cobbled streets, the mill, and, in the distance, the Cévennes Mountains. While passing through the round towers, don't miss the arrow slits and loopholes, remarkable reminders of the village's medieval defensive system.

Visit duration: approximately 45 minutes.

Only half of the ramparts are accessible to visitors.

Pets are not allowed.

Please note: Paid parking helps fund the preservation and maintenance of this small fortified village, which is home to just 25 residents.
