Follow a ridge to climb up onto the Causse Noir, explore its Scots pine forests and discover the ruins of Caylus Castle, situated on a promontory overlooking the Tarn valley

After glancing down towards the Peyreleau tower, begin the ascent to the Causse Noir with the utmost caution. The sections along the cliff edge and the steep paths make for a challenging yet rewarding start to the walk. The crossing of the Causse Noir, with its forests and short-grass meadows, ends with a lovely descent towards the River Tarn
